IS IT FAIR TO SAY THAT POLITICS, BY NATURE, IS OFTEN A DIRTY 'GAME' OR IS IT THE NATURE OF POLITICAL SYSTEMS AND A FUNCTION OF THE SOCIETIES WHICH THEY GOVERN THAT POLITICIANS ARE OFTEN LABELLED WITH THE UNSAVOURY TITLES?
It is probably fair to state that no jurisdiction has not, at some point in time been shaken by so-called political scandal....or downright detestable political affray! BUT WHY?
Not too long ago, yet ANOTHER MAJOR INTERNATIONAL POLITICAL FIGURE BEING CALLED UPON TO RESIGN AS A RESULT OF SERIOUS ALLEGATIONS OF CORRUPTION (in the person of Spain's Prime Minister - Mariano Rajoy - pictured above). Precisely at the same time, the very serious allegations of continued manipulation of the electoral process in Zimbabwe by infamous long time ruler Robert Mugabe made the news!
Russia - now long "emancipated" from dictatorial-style rule continues to make headlines with such non-democratic actions as national legislation openly discriminating against people on the grounds of sexuality...and most recently we have witnessed the "actions" in the Crimea....
....seems to me that it really does continue to beg the question - IS IT A WONDER THAT THERE IS DISILLUSION WITH so-called "Democracy"??? Patrick Schmid
