Making ends meet.....

Making ends meet has become increasingly difficult - there should be more honest oversight of companies' hiring/labour practices!

Though this topic has been featured in one way or another, practically every day in virtually every news media, all over the globe and in one form or another, very little seems to have actually been done by Governments (being the responsible oversight organisations in every modern society) to:
 (a) get the unemployed back to work, and
(b)ensure proper treatment of their citizens and residents employed by the companies and entities who employ them and who are directly bound abide by the laws pertaining to Employment and Labour issues.
Despite regular reports of apparently struggling companies awarding those in upper management with disproportionate bonuses, whilst simultaneously cutting overall wages and benefits....and even making hundreds of people redundant,
Unfortunately, very little is truly being done in earnest to ensure better treatment of employees in some of the worlds largest companies - REGARDLESS of where they may be operating!
This therefore begs the obvious question: Are the Governments too weak to hold these companies to task?
Are Government around the world unable, unaware, unwilling, afraid, incapable, too co-dependent, short-staffed, lacking in focussed, organised will, under-funded, too involved in political compromise or perhaps a combination of all of the above?
Is this why Governments the world over consistently fail to ensure fair play and equal opportunity with respect to internal policies affecting the employment of their citizens?....or is this an area which the Government should not be involved at all?
I believe that without a doubt, unless something is done by the people elected to ensure proper enforcement of the laws which exist and the necessary follow-up which is required, (including fundamental and consistent improvements of those laws, we will continue to see an erosion of quality of life for the majority of people living on planet Earth!
